No Further Stay condition
A No Further Stay condition is an Australian visa condition that prevents the holder from applying for many other temporary or permanent visas while remaining in Australia.
Conditions commonly described this way include 8503, 8534, 8535 and 8540. The exact restriction depends on the condition and the visa grant. A holder should check the grant letter and VEVO record rather than assuming that every visa in a broad category has identical conditions.
Australia has a limited process for requesting a waiver of certain No Further Stay conditions. A request is not an approval, does not extend the current visa and does not automatically keep the person lawful while a decision is pending.
For global nomads, the condition matters because it can prevent a plan to enter as a visitor and later switch to another status without leaving Australia.
