Passkey

A passkey is a digital sign-in credential that uses cryptographic keys to prove your identity to the service where you registered it.

Instead of typing a reusable password into a website, you authorize the credential through an approved device or security key. A local PIN or biometric check may unlock that action. The credential is bound to the legitimate service, which helps resist attempts to capture a usable login through an imitation website.

Why it matters when working across borders

Your ability to work may depend on access to an employer or client account. Before changing devices or leaving your usual support arrangements, find out which passkey options that organization supports and how you would regain access if the main device were lost.

A passkey does not mean that every part of an account is immune to fraud. Keep account recovery and device security in the same conversation. Do not remove an existing sign-in method until the organization’s approved replacement and recovery process are understood.
